Knitting Craft: knit the Eyelet Shawl as a Gift

Hey Knitters,

This is an easy shawl to knit and a beginning knitter’s dream to knit and complete a shawl.

The shawl is knitted with an open lace stitch that gives the shawl a beautiful lacy look.  A great advantage to knitting the eyelet shawl is that it also reversible.

Abbreviations

Wrong side (WS)

Right side (RS)

Yo (yo)

Slip 1 (SL 1)

Pass stitch over (psso)

Pattern instructions:

Use a number 10 knitting needle.  However, any size needle will fit all gauges used to knit this garment.

Cast on 2 stitches and knit 2 rows.

Row 1: (WS) knit into the front and back of each stitches—4 stitches.

Row 2: (RS) 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 knit.

Row 3: K2, yo, K2—5 stitches

Row 5: K2, yo, k1, yo, K2,–7 stitches.

Row 7: K2, yo, k1, yo, SL1, k1, psso, yo, K2—9 stitches

Row 9: K2, yo, k1, * yo, sl1, k1, psso, repeat form * to the last 2 stitches, yo, K2.

Continue in pattern by repeating rows 9 and 10 until your shawl reaches the desired length or measurement ending on the wrong side row.

Row 10: knit 3 rows.
