This stitch is a beautiful vertical rib stitch of hearts. These knitted chains of interlocking hearts are used mostly to knit throws, shawls or scarves.
Use multiple stitches of 9 + 2 for example, 9 x 2 + 2= 20.
Work swatch gauge of as many stitches desired.
Edge or selvage stitches consist of adding one extra stitch to both ends of your work then knit the first stitch and the last stitch of every row. These stitches allow the knitter to have a nice smooth edge to the garment and create an invisible seam to sew around the armhole and side seams etc.
