Hello from Savannah!

Postby linda bass » Fri Mar 08, 2013 11:17 pm

Took a knitting class last summer and have been addicted ever since. I have made a baby blanket, a scarf, some pot holders and am presently working on a rug for the kitchen. Anybody have any easy patterns for a newbie? Thank you!

Hello!!

This site has some very nice patterns on it. I'm planning on making this sock pattern this summer, I've read over it and it looks to be fairly easy:D

I made this beret pattern. I did change the way that I did the band because I thought it came out way to loose, but that could be because of my gauge.

I hope you like these! And like I said there are lots of nice patterns on this site so be sure to look around. :D

Hi, Linda!

Like Jennifer said, there are quite a few great patterns on this site, so be forewarned - once you get looking, you might not come out of your home for weeks!

Have you tried Ravelry.com? You need to register, but there are TONS of free patterns. Some of my easy favorites are: Limeade Bib by Shelby D., the bibs and cloths by Elaine Fitzpatrick, and if you're not put off by having to do some seaming, I highly recommend Caiden's Skirt by Yumiko Sakurai. If I recommend that last pattern one more time, someone on this site is sure to slap me silly! :D But I can't help it - like you, I'm hopelessly addicted to yarn and needles!

Sooooo!!!! Karen I kind of get the sense that you've been to knitting on the web also ;)

Is it one of your regular stops when scouting for a pattern, or inspiration?

I only really discovered it this winter, but I really like it, and yesterday while poking around I found out that she has a whole page that has different stitches on it, I personally love learning new stitches :D

Okay I'll sign off for now before I drive everyone crazy with "I love...in knitting!!!"

Bye :D

Yup, that website is a pretty regular stop for me - especially if I get a request for something, and I want plenty of pattern choices.:) I haven't checked out the stitches section, though - glad you mentioned that, because I like learning new stitches, too. I recently learned the picot bind-off while knitting a baby sweater - very pretty, and it looks crochet-ish to me! I've been checking out the stitches on this site's knitting blog, and they're also pretty neat.

Another site I like is KnittingPatternCentral.com. The patterns are also listed by category, and I can easily get lost there for hours!!

Ahhhh!!! I wonder how we've missed each other for so long, I too am an addict of KnittingPatternCentral.com!!!!

As a matter of fact, when my mom was helping me learn to use the internet, the first thing we looked for was a free knitting pattern site and KnittingPatternCentral was what we found:D

I do love the free stuff you can find online!!
