  • 3 Skeins in color 012 - N.Y. Yarns "Pom Pom" (55% Polyester/ 45% Nylon; 1.75 oz / 119 yds)

  • Two Circular Knitting Needles - Size US 6, 29" and 16"

    Creating the Body to Armholes

    With circular 29" knitting needle, cast on 96 (102,114) stitches. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. Place marker on needle to indicate beginning of round.

    K3, P3 around until piece measures 5"
    K around until piece measures 11 ½" (12", 13 ½")

    Shaping the Armholes

    Separate 96 (102,114) stitches into two 48 (51,57) stitch sections for the front and back of the tank. Place first 48 (51,57) stitches on stitch holder.

    Begin working the back of the tank with the 48 (51,57) stitches remaining on the needle. (Do not knit in the round)

    Row 1: Knit
    Row 2: Purl
    Row 3: Bind Off 2 stitches, Knit to the end.
    Row 4: Bind Off 2 stitches, Purl to the end.
    Row 5: K1, K2tog, knit until 3 stitches remain on left needle, K2tog, K1.
    Row 6: Purl
    Repeat rows 5 and 6 2 (3,3) times.
    Continue in St st until piece measures 18 ½" (19 ½", 22") from the cast on edge. Bind off.

    Place the 48 (51,57) stitches from the stitch holder on to your needle. Begin working the front of the tank.

    Row 1: Knit
    Row 2: Purl
    Row 3: Bind Off 2 stitches, Knit to the end.
    Row 4: Bind Off 2 stitches, Purl to the end.
    Row 5: K1, K2tog, knit until 3 stitches remain on left needle, K2tog, K1.
    Row 6: Purl
    Repeat rows 5 and 6 2 (3,3) times.
    Continue in St st until piece measures 16" (17", 19 ½") from the cast on edge. Bind off.

    Shaping the Neck

    To shape the neck, you begin by binding off the center 8 (9,11) stitches. Knit 21 (22, 24) stitches; with the 20th (21st, 23rd) stitch, begin to bind off the center 8 (9,11) stitches. Knit to the end of the row. Check that you now have 20 (21,23) stitches on each side of the hole

    Place one set of 20 (21,23) stitches on a stitch holder. For each side of the neck, working separately: (Make sure to begin row 1 on the armhole edge of the piece. The bind off stitches on the knit rows should be on the neck edge of the piece.)

    Row 1: Purl
    Row 2: Bind Off 2 stitches, Knit to the end.
    Row 3: Purl
    Row 4: Bind Off 1 stitch, Knit to the end.
    Row 5: Purl
    Repeat rows 4 and 5 2 (2,3) times.
    Continue in St st until piece measures the same as the back piece. Bind off.

    Finishing

    Sew the shoulder seams together. With the circular 16" knitting needle, pick up 42 (44, 46) stitches around the neck and work K3, P3 around for 2". Bind off.
