Description

Supplies

2 Skeins in 113 Tomato Red – YARN A, 1 Skein 987 in 153 Black- YARN B – Lion Brand Kool Wool (50% Merino Wool, 50% Acrylic; 1.75 oz / 60 yds)

Circular Knitting Needle – Size US 10.5, 16″

Gauge – Not critical to pattern

Directions

With yarn A, cast on 70 stitches. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. Place marker on needle to indicate beginning of round.

Body of Bag

Round 1 – 4: K around in A.

Round 5: (K1 with A, K1 with B, K4 with A, K1 with B, K3 with A) 7 times.

Round 6: (K3 with B, K2 with A, K3 with B, K2 with A) 7 times.

Round 7: (K1 with B, K1 with A, K2 with B, K2 with A, K1 with B, K2 with A, K1 with B) 7 times.

Round 8: (K3 with A, K2 with B, K3 with A, K2 with B) 7 times.

Round 9: (K1 with A, K1 with B, K2 with A, K2 with B, K1 with A, K2 with B, K1 with A) 7 times.

Round 10: (K3 with B, K2 with A, K3 with B, K2 with A) 7 times.

Round 11: (K1 with A, K1 with B, K4 with A, K1 with B, K3 with A) 7 times.

Round 12-14: K around in A.

Round 15: (K2 with A, K2 with B, K1 with A) 14 times.

Round 16: (K1 with A, K2 with B, K1 with A, K1 with B) 14 times.

Round 17: (K2 with B, K3 with A) 14 times.

Round 18-20: K around in A.

Round 21-22: (K1 with B, K1 with A) repeat 35 times.

Round 23-24: (K1 with A, K1 with B) repeat 35 times.

Round 25-32: K around in A.

Round 33: (K5, K2tod, YO) repeat 10 times in A.

Round 34: K around in A knitting the Yarn Overs.

Round 35-38: K around in A.

Round 39: K around in B.

Round 40-43: (K2, P2) repeat 17 times in B. K2 in B.

Bind off.

Bottom of Bag

Cast on 22 stitches in B. Turn work, do not work in round. Continue working in garter stitch until you have a square. Bind off.

Drawstring

Cast on 2 stitches. Create a 30″ I cord.

Finishing

Attach the bottom of the bag using your method of choice. Picture shown uses crochet hook and chain stitch with Yarn B. Thread the drawstring through the hols created by the yarn overs and pull tight.
