    Body to Armholes

With circular 24" knitting needle, cast on 80 (88, 96) stitches in the Palisade yarn. Turn work- do not work in the round. K1, P1 across, then P1, K1 across for trim. Continue in Stockinette stitch until piece measure 10"(11",12").

    Right Front

You will now begin working the first 20 (22,24) stitches for the right front of the sweater. Starting at the opposite end, place the last 20 (22,24) stitches on one stitch holder and the middle 40 (44,48) stitches on another stitch holder. You should have 20 (22,24) stitches still remaining on the needle.

    Row 1: Knit
Row 2: BO 2, Purl to the end
    Row 3: K 15, K2tog, K1
Continue in Stockinette stitch until piece measures 14" (15",16") ending with a P row.

Make the button hole and shape neck:
    Row 1: K2, YO, K2tog, K to the end.
Row 2: Purl, making sure to Purl the yarn over.
    Row 3: Knit
    Row 4: Purl
    Row 5: Knit
    Row 6: Purl
Row 7: BO 3, K to the end.
    Row 8: Purl
    Row 9: K1, K2tog, K to the end.
    Row 10-17: Repeat rows 8 and 9 4 (5,6) times
    Bind off loosely.

    Left Front

You will now begin working the 20 (22,24) stitches on the holder. Attach the yarn on the armhole side of the piece.

Row 1: BO 2, Knit to the end
    Row 2: Purl
    Row 3: K 15, K2tog, K1
Continue in Stockinette stitch until piece measures 14" (15",16") ending with a K row.

    Shape neck:
    Row 1: Purl
    Row 2: Knit
    Row 3: Purl
    Row 4: Knit
    Row 5: Purl
    Row 6: Knit
Row 1: BO 3, P to the end.
    Row 2: Knit
    Row 3: P1, P2tog, P to the end.
    Row 4-11: Repeat rows 2 and 3 4 (5,6) times
    Bind off loosely.

    Back

You will now begin working the 40 (44,48) stitches on the holder. Attach the yarn on the left armhole side of the piece. Work in Stockinette stitch until the piece measures 11" (12",13") ending with a Purl row.

    Shape Armholes:
Row 1: BO 2, Knit to the end
Row 2: BO 2, Purl to the end
    Row 3: Knit
    Row 4: Purl
    Row 5: K1, K2tog, K to last 3 stitches, K2tog, K1.
    Row 6: Purl
Continue in Stockinette stitch until piece measures is the same length as the left and right front.

    Sleeves

Sew shoulder seams together. Using 16" needles, pick up 42 (44, 46) stitches around the armhole. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. Place marker on needle to indicate beginning of round.

    Rows 1 - 6: Knit around
    Row 7: K1, K2tog, K to last 3 stitches, K2tog, K1.
    Repeat Rows 1 - 7 until sleeve reaches desired length minus ½ " or 22 1/2" (23 1/2", 24 1/2").

For trim, K1, P1 around, then P1, K1 around. Bind off loosely.

    Finishing

Using the Wool of the Andes yarn, thread a 60" strand on to the yarn needle. Starting at the top of the sweater, select your location to begin the detailing. Work down the front of the sweater only completing one side of the X. As you come back up the sweater, compete the other side of the X. Repeat for the other side of the sweater.

With size J crochet hook, work 1 row of single crochet around all edges except where trim exists.

Sew on the button of your choice.
