    Row 2: (K1, P1) across
    Row 3: (P1, K1) across
    Row 4: (P1, K1) across

    Repeat rows 1-4 until piece measures 13" (13 ½", 14", 14 ½") or desired length.

Shape armhole of left front when wearing

    Row 1: P 22 (24, 26, 28) stitches
Row 2: Turn your work, BO 3 stitches, K to the end.

You just worked the first 2 rows of the left front of the vest.

Place 66 (72, 78, 84) stitches starting from the other end of the needle on to stitch holders. These stitches will make the back and right front of the vest.

Working only on the 19 (21, 23, 25) stitches still remaining on the needle,

    Row 3: P across.
    Row 4: K1, K2tog, K to the end
    Row 5: P across

    Repeat rows 4 and 5 2 (2, 3, 3) more times.

Shape neck of left front when wearing

Row 1: Knit to the last 4 stitches, K2tog, K2.
    Row 2: P across.

    Repeat rows 1 and 2 6 (7, 8, 9) more times.

    Bind Off.

Shape armhole of right front when wearing

Place the first 22 (24, 26, 28) stitches from the stitch holder on to the needles. Make sure you pick the stitches up from the outside edge of the piece, since you are now going to work the right front. Attach your yarn and:

    Row 1: K 22 (24, 26, 28) stitches
Row 2: BO 3 stitches, P to the end
    Row 3: Knit across
    Row 4: Purl across
Row 5: Knit to the last 3 stitches, K2tog, K1.

    Repeat rows 4 and 5 2 (2, 3, 3) more times.

Shape neck of right front when wearing

Row 1: K2, SSK, K to the end
    Row 2: P across.

    Repeat rows 1 and 2 6 (7, 8, 9) more times.

    Bind Off.

    Shape back

Place the remaining 44 (48, 52, 56) stitches from the stitch holder on to the needles.

Attach your yarn and start working in a stockinette stitch.

Row 1 (RS): BO 3 stitches, K across.
Row 2 (WS): BO 3 stitches, P across.
    Row 3: K1, K2tog, K until 3 stitches are left on the needle, K2tog, K1.
    Row 4: P across.

    Repeat rows 3 and 4 2 (2, 3, 4) more times.

Continue working in stockinette stitch until piece measures the same as the right and left sides already completed. Bind off.

    Finishing

Seam the shoulders to the back of the vest. With size J crochet hook, work 1 row of single crochet around all edges of vest, including armhole.
