To shape crown:

Row 1: (K11, K2tog) until last 3 stitches, K3.

Row 4: (P8, P2tog) until last 3 stitches, P3.

Cut yarn leaving an 12″ tail. With the yarn needle, thread the tail through the remaining loops on the needle and pull tightly until the hat top is closed. Use the leftover yarn tail to sew the seam.
